McGuire Lands Pair of Top Fives at Skyline and Portsmouth! - August 30, 2010

Josh McGuire and his #41 Dirt Late Model team traveled north to the Buckeye State of Ohio over the August 27-28 weekend for a pair of events. On Friday night, the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio played host to a $1,500 to win regular weekly show. Josh won his heat race in preliminary action and later started third in the A-Main. After the dust had settled at Skyline on Friday, Josh found himself credited with a fifth place performance in the feature behind winner Chris Carpenter, Freddie Carpenter, Jeff Burdette, and Chris Garnes.

Up next for the Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team was a trip to the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio for the annual running of the 'Fred Dillow Memorial.' The unsanctioned program on Saturday evening boasted a $4,000 top prize. Josh laid down the quickest lap around the southern Ohio venue during qualifying and later ran third in the dash. After rolling off from the inside of the second row in the 'Fred Dillow Memorial,' the Grayson, Kentucky native fell back several spots before rallying late to score a third place effort behind winner Tim Dohm and runner-up R.J. Conley. Full results from both races over the weekend can be located online at www.skylinespeedway.net and www.portsraceway.com.

Josh McGuire Slings Dirt at Willard; Sees Rain at PRP - August 23, 2010

The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team made a rare journey to the nearby Willard Speedway in Willard, Kentucky on Friday night, August 20 for the 'Black Jack Farley Boggs Memorial.' The unsanctioned Dirt Late Model special at Willard paid $2,000 to the winner. Josh McGuire slapped the wall during his qualifying lap, but rebounded nicely in his heat race to claim a second place finish. In the A-Main, Josh had a strong racecar and crossed underneath the checkered flag in the third position.

However, he was penalized following the race for not going to the scales, even though the scales were not working and Josh had not visited them following qualifying and the heat race. Instead of a third place finish, the Grayson, Kentucky driver was relegated to a disappointing tenth place effort, as there were only ten cars that finished the race. Saturday's $4,000 to win 'Fred Dillow Memorial' at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio was then rained-out and rescheduled for next Saturday, August 28. Complete results from Willard on Friday can be viewed online at www.willardspeedway.net.

McGuire in Action at Florence & 201 Over the Weekend... - August 16, 2010

Josh McGuire and his #41 team started their August 13-14 weekend at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky, as they participated in the qualifying session for the 'North/South 100' on Friday night. Josh timed his C.J. Rayburn racecar in twenty-eighth fastest in Group A and the decision was made post-qualifying to skip out on the remainder of the $50,000 to win program on Saturday. Instead, the Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team trekked to the 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky on Saturday evening for a $1,500 to win regular weekly show. Unfortunately, Josh suffered terminal mechanical problems during hot laps at 201 and was done for the night.

Thank You Note from Josh McGuire Racing - August 12, 2010

On behalf of the entire Josh McGuire Racing team, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation for all the kindness, hard work, and added support that was shown to us this past weekend at the USA Nationals. There was much preparation that involved so many wonderful people to help showcase us as the U. S. Steel team. It was truly an honor to get to bare the U. S. Steel name.

The weekend was a surreal experience and it would not have been possible without the help of two specific dedicated individuals who are not only diehard race fans, but who know and believe in the growth of the sport. Special thanks to...Scott Coleman of U. S. Steel and Rich Olson of FANSFund. These two spent countless hours preparing the logistics of both our # 41car and U. S. Steel teammate-- #44 Darrell Nelson. We are very humbled by all their efforts and can't say THANK YOU enough for the opportunity.

We also wish to extend our appreciation to the U. S. Steel employees! Throughout this entire process...we have received such strong support-please know that all your cheers were appreciated. It is no wonder that U. S. Steel is one of the best companies in the world...it is because they have the BEST employees. It was a joy getting to meet those that attended the event and we enjoyed getting to celebrate the USA Nationals together. We built some great friendships out of this weekend and hope to see you at the track again soon. For those that may not to be able to participate in the weekend's activities...please know that our JMR team represented your company with great PRIDE and welcome you to the track with us anytime (hopefully we will get to meet more of you in our racing travels)...

Our list of Thank You's doesn't stop here...we could go on and on including the Cedar Lake Speedway staff, Dirt On Dirt for giving the fans at home an opportunity to watch the event live, our always dedicated and supportive SPONSORS, and of course the reason why we are racing-THE FANS! We are so grateful for all those who have and continue to support us throughout our journey-thank you for the cheers, the kind words, thanks for wearing our shirts/hats, and thanks for just showing up at the track!

McGuire and #41 Team Compete in USA Nationals Weekend - August 8, 2010

The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team brought their immaculate U. S. Steel sponsored #41 C.J. Rayburn racecar to the legendary Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin from August 5-7 for the 'USA Nationals' weekend. The huge three-day extravaganza kicked off with a $5,000 to win unsanctioned event on Thursday night at CLS. Josh McGuire timed in thirty-ninth fastest in qualifying and later finished seventh in his stacked heat race and sixth in his B-Main. Unfortunately, Josh was unable to transfer into the night's 40-lap tune-up race.

On Friday and Saturday, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned the 23rd Annual 'USA Nationals,' which boasted a hefty $50,000 paycheck. Josh qualified forty-first quickest in WOOLMS time trials on Friday night and later ran sixth in heat race action. When competition resumed on Saturday in front of a huge Cedar Lake crowd, the Grayson, Kentucky driver wound up sixth in his B-Main and fourth in the Last Chance Qualifier. It was one of those weekend's for Josh and the #41 team, as he narrowly missed out on transferring into the 100-lap 'USA Nationals.'
