(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire and his #41 Dirt Late Model team wrapped up their 2007 racing season last weekend in Tennessee and Kentucky. The Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee played host to a pair of shows on Friday and Saturday, November 16-17. Josh received a fast time provisional on Friday at Cleveland to earn a coveted starting spot in the $2,700 to win Southern Thunder Series feature event. After starting from the tail, Josh climbed up to the top ten before blowing a tire near the end of the race, which relegated him to a disappointing seventeenth place effort.
On Saturday, the annual 'Gobbler' took place at Cleveland and a $5,000 to win O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series (OSAS) event highlighted the evening. Josh finished fourth in his B-Main to earn the outside tenth row starting spot for the 50-lap feature event. Despite going a lap down early on in this year's version of the 'Gobbler,' the Ashland, Kentucky native finished thirteenth in the final rundown. The final event of Josh's 2007 racing season occurred at the Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky on Sunday, November 18. An unsanctioned event was on tap and a $1,500 payday awaited the victor. Unfortunately for the Josh McGuire Racing team, a broken axle in hot laps cost the team the opportunity to finish the evening.
"Well we didn't have very good luck during our last racing weekend of the year, but we still had a great season," commented McGuire earlier in the week. "Everyone associated with the team should be proud of our year, as we accomplished a lot of great things. We got nine wins, completed the entire O'Reilly Southern Nationals Series schedule, finished second in the Jackson 100 at Brownstown, and made the starting field for the Dirt Track World Championship. Hopefully, we can have a productive off-season and get ready for another great season next year. I have to thank all of my great sponsors, as well as my family and crew for all of their support!"
The Josh McGuire Racing team had a spectacular 2007 racing season, which was highlighted by his nine feature victories. In addition to his trips to victory lane, Josh also amassed twenty-nine Top Five finishes and thirty-nine Top Ten performances. Below is a quick overview of his season:
