(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing team traveled to the Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, North Carolina and the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky from October 3-6 for a quartet of Dirt Late Model events. Josh McGuire kicked off his busy week with a pair of runner-up efforts at Tri-County on October 3-4. The young Ashland, Kentucky native finished second to Chris Madden in the rain-postponed O'Reilly Southern Nationals Series event on Wednesday, October 3 before running second to Dennis Franklin in the annul 'Tarheel 50' on Thursday evening. Both races at the Tarheel state venue paid $3,500 to the winner. You can view complete results from these two shows online at www.tricountyracetrack.com.
The #41 team then invaded the legendary Ponderosa oval on Friday and Saturday, October 5-6 for the annual 'Fall Classic' weekend. After unfortunately failing to make the starting field for the $2,000 to win A-Main on Friday night, things went much smoother for Josh on Saturday. He ran second in his B-Main to earn a coveted starting position in the $5,000 to win feature event. After the dust had settled at the "Pond" last Saturday, Josh was credited with a respectable tenth place performance. Full results from these two unsanctioned races can be found online at www.ponderosaspeedway.net.
"Our weekend started out real good at Brasstown, but didn't end up so hot at Ponderosa," stated McGuire this week. "If one of those three starts would have gone green the first night at Brasstown, I believe that I could have held off Chris (Madden) for the win. But, people kept wrecking and then the officials called for a single-file start, which put Chris back out in front. Overall though, I was pretty pleased with the extended weekend and I am looking forward to getting back to Skyline this Saturday!"
Josh and his #41 team will trek to the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio on Saturday night, October 13 for the Independent Racing Series (IRS) finale. A $5,000 top prize is up for grabs on Saturday and a 50-lap feature event will highlight the racing activity. You can learn more about the 'Jack-O-Lantern 50' online at www.irsracing.net.
