(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire and his #41 team invaded the Buckeye State of Ohio on September 21-22 for a pair of Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) events. On Friday night, September 21, the Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio played host to a $5,000 to win show. Josh was second fastest in qualifying at Hilltop and later posted third place and eighth place finishes in the heat race and dash respectively. The Ashland, Kentucky native later rolled off from the outside of the fourth row for the A-Main. After suffering motor problems during the course of the feature, Josh wound up eighteenth in the final rundown.
The dirt-slinging action then shifted to the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio on Saturday evening, September 22 for another $5,000 to win MACS event. Josh ran sixth in his competitive heat race, but later won the B-Main to earn the rights to the seventeenth starting spot for the annual 'Harvest 50.' The defending race champion then passed a plethora of cars during the course of the 50-lap main event to earn a third place performance behind winner Steve Shaver and runner-up Dave Hess, Jr. You can view complete results online at www.macsracing.com!
"We had a real good car each night, but unfortunately had some motor issues on Friday night at Hilltop," commented McGuire recently. "Then at Skyline, we had a flat early in the feature and had to restart at the tail end of the field. I think if we would have had a caution or five more laps, we might have one that race from the tail."
The Josh McGuire Racing team will take the upcoming September 28-29 weekend off from Dirt Late Model action. Below is their tentative upcoming schedule:
October 3 | Tri-County (NC) Race Track, Southern Nationals |
$3,500 to win
October 4 | Tri-County (NC) Race Track, Tarheel 50 | $5,300 to win
October 5 | Rome (GA) International Speedway, Lucas Oil | $10,000 to win
October 6 | Dixie (GA) Speedway, Lucas Oil | $15,000 to win
