(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing team made their first trip to the historic Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana over the weekend for the 28th Annual 'Jackson 100.' The weekend kicked off on Friday night, August 17 with a $2,500 to win unsanctioned event. Josh McGuire finished a strong second in his heat race and later rolled off from the outside of the fifth row for the 30-lap feature event. In his first A-Main at the Jackson County Fairgrounds oval, Josh was able to pass three cars en route to a solid seventh place performance.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series then rolled into town on Saturday evening, August 18 to sanction the annual running of the 'Jackson 100.' Josh qualified well and later won his heat race to earn a coveted starting spot in the $15,000 to win A-Main. He then started fifth in the 100-lap main event after drawing the number five pill prior to the race. In front of the SPEED Channel cameras, the Ashland, Kentucky native drove a flawless race in the rubber and wound up second to winner Matt Miller. Josh's runner-up effort was worth $7,500, which marks the largest payday in his young racing career! You can view complete results from the weekend online at www.brownstownspeedway.com.
"I would have loved to have won the Jackson 100 on my first try, but I guess second place isn't too bad," commented a happy McGuire this week via telephone. "We didn't know a lot about Brownstown until we showed up on Friday, but the weekend turned out great. Matt (Miller) drove a great 100 laps and didn't slip up enough for me to get by for the win. Hopefully, our first $10,000 plus win is right around the corner!"
Josh and his #41 team have decided to take the upcoming weekend (August 24-25) off from Dirt Late Model action to get ready for the busy month of September. Josh's next scheduled event will be the $25,000 to win 'Hillbilly 100' at the Tyler County (WV) Speedway on Saturday night, September 1. More information concerning the premier event and Josh's September plans will be made available in next week's press release!
