(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing team is set to invade the Buckeye State of Ohio this coming weekend for a pair of $2,000 to win events. The Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio will play host to the 'Topless 40' tonight, July 6. Josh McGuire will take off the top of his #41 machine and compete for the $2,000 top prize in the 40-lapper tonight at Skyline. On Saturday evening, July 7, the action will turn to the K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio, as Jim Nier's facility will hold a $2,000 to win regular show. The young Ashland, Kentucky native had an ultra-busy week of racing action leading up to the 4th of July. Josh drove Tim Hall's #11h machine in three events last week and his own car at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Sunday evening, July 1. The highlight of the weekend for Josh was his win in the $3,000 'Uncle Sam 30' at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania on Saturday night, June 30. You can read a brief recap of each race that Josh entered last week, as posted exclusively on www.joshmcguireracing.com!
June 29-30 | Lernerville (PA) Speedway, World of Outlaws
| $30,000 to win *
Josh unfortunately failed to make the starting field for the inaugural 'Firecracker
100' at Lernerville after finishing sixth in his heat race and seventh in
the B-Main. However, Josh did win his first A-Main at the historic facility,
as he picked up the $3,000 top prize in the 'Uncle Sam 30,' which featured
drivers that did not qualify for the 'Firecracker 100.'
July 1 | Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park, Lucas Oil Series
| $10,000 to win
The Ashland, Kentucky native finished second in his heat race at the Portsmouth
Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio to earn a starting spot in the 75-lap A-Main.
Josh then ran inside of the top ten throughout the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series feature event until motor problems sidelined his entry late in the
$10,000 to win race. He wound up nineteenth in the final rundown of the event.
July 2 | Midway (OH) Speedway, UMP Summernationals |
$10,000 to win *
Race three of the extended weekend occurred at the Midway Speedway in Crooksville,
Ohio on July 2. The UMP Summernationals Series rolled into Crooksville and
a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs in the annual 'Jim Dunn Memorial.' After
suffering steering problems prior to qualifying, Josh could not pass enough
cars in his heat race or his B-Main to advance to the feature event.
July 3 | Muskingum County (OH) Speedway, Lucas Oil Series
| $10,000 to win *
Josh closed out his busy extended weekend leading up to the 4th of July at
the Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio on Tuesday evening, July
3. Josh finished fifth in his heat race, but won his B-Main to advance to
the $10,000 to win feature event. The Ashland, Kentucky native broke a fuel
pump early in the A-Main which led to a twenty-fifth place finish in the 50-lap
affair.

"It was a pretty good week for us," quoted McGuire on Thursday via telephone. "It was great to win at Lernerville, but I wish we would have made the 'Firecracker 100' starting field. I think our car would have been really good in the feature if we could have gotten in the show. Then the rest of the weekend, we had some mechanical problems that bit us, but overall, it wasn't a bad weekend. I have to thank Tim (Hall) for giving me the opportunity to drive his car at three of the races over the weekend… it was a lot of fun!"
