(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire is fresh of a very busy weekend, which saw him travel to Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky. On Friday night, May 4, Josh was in action at the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio. After finishing fourth in the dash, the Ashland, Kentucky native rolled off from the outside of the second row for the $1,200 to win A-Main. The team decided to make wholesale changes prior to the running of the feature and unfortunately, those changes did not pay off. Josh wound up finishing seventh in the final rundown of the main event at the southern Ohio oval on Friday evening.
The #41 team then traveled to the I-77 Motorsports Park in Fairplain, West Virginia for a pair of double features, one of which was rain-postponed while Josh was leading the race. Mother Nature struck again at the West Virginia speedplant and the racing action was canceled. On Sunday, May 6, the Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky played host to a $1,000 to win event. Josh was third quickest in qualifying and then finished fifth in the dash. After starting fifth in the A-main, he faded a bit before notching a ninth place performance.
"We just changed too many things all weekend and it didn't work out," commented McGuire today. "At both Rocky Top and Lake Cumberland, we were alright in qualifying and the dash, but then we went to changing everything prior to the feature. I guess we know what not to do to this new car now. Hopefully, we have learned some things though that will help us out in the future!"
The Josh McGuire Racing team is readying for a big doubleheader weekend in the Buckeye State of Ohio. On Friday, May 11, Josh will once again compete at the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio in a $1,200 to win show. The action will then turn to the K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday evening for a $2,000 to win event.
