(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire and his #41 team traveled to the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio on Friday evening, April 27 and walked away with their first top five performance of the young 2007 racing season! Josh won the dash to earn the pole position for the $1,200 to win feature event. After rolling off from the pole, the Ashland, Kentucky native unfortunately spun on the first lap. He then had to restart from the tail of the field, but Josh got up on the wheel and began his march back towards the front. Josh had a very fast racecar throughout the feature, as he later proved by driving his #41 machine underneath the checkered flag in the third position, making the most of the lap one spin.
The Josh McGuire Racing team then trekked to the I-77 Motorsports Park in Fairplain, West Virginia on Saturday evening for the $2,500 to win 'Spring 40.' Josh set fast time in qualifying and then won his heat race to earn the pole position for the 40-lap A-Main. However, the rains came shortly after the drop of the green flag. The race was postponed one week due to the inclement weather and Josh will bring the field to green when the race resumes on Saturday night, May 5.
"We had a great racecar both nights last week," stated Josh this week via telephone. "On Friday night at Rocky Top, I got turned around on the first lap of the feature and then had to restart at the tail of the field. The car was good enough; however, to get back up inside of the top five and finish third. Then on Saturday at I-77, I think we had the car to beat in the feature. Hopefully, that will be the case again when we return to I-77 this Saturday night!"
Josh and his #41 team are tentatively planning on invading the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky this Friday night, May 4 for a $1,200 to win regular show. They will then travel back to the I-77 Motorsports Park in Fairplain, West Virginia on Saturday for the rain-postponed 'Spring 40.' I-77 will also play host to a $1,000 to win regular show on Saturday, May 5, so Josh will be competing in two races that evening.
