(ASHLAND, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing team, with young Dirt Late Model pilot Josh McGuire behind the wheel of their #41 machine, invaded the Dirt Track at the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina last weekend for the second annual 'Circle K Colossal 100.' On Friday, April 20, Josh timed in sixty-fifth fastest out of the ninety-two entrants in the qualifying session. The Ashland, Kentucky native then posted a third place effort in his heat race, but only the top two finishers in each preliminary event transferred to the 100-lap A-Main on Saturday.
Josh returned to the Charlotte area venue on Saturday and finished fourteenth in his B-Main after an incident with Brian Birkhofer. At the time of the wreck, Josh was inside of the top six, which would have put him in the $50,000 to win feature event. You can view complete results from the 'Circle K Colossal 100' online at www.worldofoutlaws.com!
"What happened in the consolation race with (Brian) Birkhofer was unfortunate, because we were both going to get into the show," stated McGuire this week via telephone. "Even though we did not make the feature, I am happy with how the car performed throughout the weekend. I should have actually made the show on Friday night during the heat race, but the car pushed coming to the white flag and I let Steve Francis get by me for the transfer spot."
Josh and his #41 team have a pair of Dirt Late Model events on their schedule for the upcoming weekend! On Friday night, April 27, Josh plans to tackle the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio for a $1,200 to win show. The action will then turn to the I-77 Motorsports Park in Fairplain, West Virginia. A $2,500 top prize is on the line during the 'Spring 40' on Saturday evening at the West Virginia speedplant.
